The Pregnancy Process - How Do You Get Pregnant?

!±8± The Pregnancy Process - How Do You Get Pregnant?

Understanding the pregnancy process and how do you get pregnant is crucial to being able to conceive. It is important to understand how the entire biological cycle works and just what happens for you to be able to make sense of your body and optimize your chances of getting pregnant.

If you want to know how do you get pregnant, the first step in the process is that of conception. During the course of sexual intercourse when the man ejaculates inside the woman's vagina as many as a million sperm cells can be released via the fluid called semen. While the biological system of men involves creating sperm cells on a daily basis, in the women the ovaries produce the egg one time a month. This egg traces a path down the fallopian tube and reaches the uterus. Upon ejaculation when the sperm are released into the body they pass through the cervix and the uterus and the fallopian tubes and hit upon the egg. In the cases that the egg and sperm fuse together fertilization occurs and conception is completed.

The next part of understanding how do you get pregnant is the one where the fertilized egg begins to place itself along the uterine wall. During the monthly cycle the woman's body experiences a thickening of the uterine wall in preparation for the release of the ovum from the ovaries. The onset of the menstrual cycle occurs when there has been no fertilization and conception. The wall crumbles down and passes through the vagina as blood and clotting and this is known as the menstruation period. In cases of the conception, the fertilized egg becomes latched to the thickened walls of the uterus. Post this occurrence the cells start multiplying and transform into an embryo. With the passage of time the embryo turns into a fetus which is connected to the uterus through the placenta that acts as a nurturing layer for the embryo and provides it all the nourishment, food and care that it needs.

As the pregnancy advances the body experiences a number of transformations in order to prepare for the demands and needs of the fetus. Women begin to put weight on in order to be able to support the growing child. The breasts begin to grow in size as the mammary glands increase to produce the milk that the baby will need after delivery. The pregnancy lasts for 9 months.

Once you have understood how do you get pregnant you can concentrate your efforts on conceiving if you have decided to have a child. It has been seen that for maximum chances of conceiving it is best to have sex a few days before your ovulation cycle is due because the walls of the uterus become ready to carry a fertilized egg and prepare for a possible pregnancy. If you have sex in the days building up to the ovulation cycle you increase your chances of conceiving, as it is most likely at this time that the sperm will join with the ovum being released.

OvaCue Fertility Monitor and Vaginal Sensor

!±8± OvaCue Fertility Monitor and Vaginal Sensor

Brand : Ovacue | Rate : | Price :
Post Date : Nov 27, 2011 09:22:49 | Usually ships in 1-2 business days

The OvaCue is a saliva-based monitor that detects changes in the electrolyte levels in saliva. These levels shift as levels of the hormone estrogen rise and fall. Simply place the oral sensor on your tongue daily and the OvaCue will track and record your fertility for that day. It looks for trends in your electrolytes to mark the beginning of your fertile window - this is the selection of your dominant follicle. With 5-7 days advance notice of ovulation, you are able to identify the time when you are most likely to conceive. This FDA approved monitor is over 98% accurate in predicting ovulation. The OvaCue keeps track of your current cycle day and current fertility status and also stores up to 4 months of readings. The Vaginal Sensor increases the accuracy of the OvaCue and is able to confirm that ovulation has occurred. When using the vaginal sensor the monitor is able cross-reference additional data points from the electrolyte level trends it observes in your cervical mucus. This will allow the monitor to detect when your estrogen levels are decreasing and your progesterone levels are increasing (indicating ovulation).

Ovulation Prediction Kits

!±8± Ovulation Prediction Kits

Sometimes a woman's temperature does not rise with ovulation, or there are other difficulties with using the basal temperature method of predicting ovulation. If you find yourself in this condition, there are a variety of products available from the drug store which can help you predict "O-day," but they can be a costly alternative.

What's included in an ovulation prediction kit, and how does it work? Actually there are several types of ovulation predictors. One of the choices is a battery operated device that tests your saliva for the presence of hormones which indicate ovulation. These testers are reusable and are about the size of a lipstick. Using one requires you to put a drop of saliva on the lens. When it dries, you have an eyepiece through which the dried saliva is magnified forty times. If increased estrogen is presence, the saliva will have dried in a fern-like design. Such a device can cost around , but it doesn't require additional purchases. Brand names include Ovulite and Fertile Focus.

Another option is a kit that requires you to collect your urine in a cup and test it with a test strip to determine the presence of hormones. Most of them test for luteinizing hormone, a substance that increases prior to ovulation. There are a variety of these kits on the market. Some have as few as 7 test strips included and others have 20 or more. For women with irregular periods, seven test strips might not be enough. One of these kits will probably cost between and . If you need to buy one several months in a row, it could prove costly. However, they are helpful and somewhat less trouble than charting basal temperatures, although many women do both at the same time. Brands include Answer and Clear Blue.

If money is not an object and you like high tech gadgets, you might want to check into an electric fertility monitor with a digital read-out. For 0 you can get a small device that will tell you when to test your urine, based on the first day of your period. The monitor also reads your test sticks for both luteinizing hormone and estrogen. One such device is made by Clear Blue. If pregnancy doesn't happen within a few months, you will have to buy additional test strips to use with it.

Clear Blue also makes a tester that has a digital readout that is very easy to interpret, unlike some other kits. It costs about , can test urine seven times, and is not reusable - which makes it too costly for a lot of people.
